Can you share more about the inspiration behind your upcoming single, “Flip The Switch,” and how it reflects this new chapter in your music journey?
I’m very excited about the release of my single, “Flip The Switch.” I’ve learned so much on my musical journey these past two years, and I have grown so much as both an artist and a person. I’m making music that’s true to who I am. The message behind “Flip The Switch” is about being confident and comfortable in your own skin and not listening to the people who don’t believe in you. It’s about not listening to the doubters and just flipping that switch to believe in yourself. I think this song really highlights positivity and that’s how I want it to be perceived.
Transitioning from acting to music, what aspects of the creative process do you find most fulfilling in each realm?
I really enjoy how with music I’m able to speak from personal experiences and share things that I’ve gone through in my life, and tell a story through that. With acting, I’m stepping into someone else’s life and often becoming someone who is the polar opposite of me, which is so interesting and fascinating. I really enjoy those two different realms.
With a blend of R&B swagger and universal pop appeal in your new sound, how did you approach the creative process to ensure a seamless fusion of these genres?
I think there’s a great middle ground between R&B and pop, and sonically that’s exactly what I want to create. I want to find that perfect blend and mesh both together. I also still want to embrace the real storytelling aspect of music too. I want to make music that resonates and connects with the world. I want my music to offer people an escape from reality. Music is a way to cope. Music is a way to heal.
Having collaborated with artists like Wiz Khalifa and established yourself in the music industry, how do you think these experiences have shaped your musical style and approach?
All these experiences I’ve had have indeed shaped me as an artist. All the trials and tribulations. I’ve been finding my voice, using my creative juices, and just unapologetically being myself, and I think that’s why artist development is still so important, because over time it helps you unravel all those different layers of yourself. I’m forever thankful for all the lessons I’ve learned and all the things I’ve experienced in my career thus far.
Your fanbase has been rapidly growing on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. How do you engage with your fans, and how has their support influenced your artistic evolution?
I love interacting with all of my fans and supporters! I love having a place where I am able to just go talk to people that love me, care from, and want to support me. It means the world to have the platforms to do that. I’m so blessed and thankful that I have such an incredible support system.
As you embark on this new musical chapter, what message or emotions do you hope your audience takes away from “Flip The Switch”?
I hope my music spreads positivity and love. I’m hopeful that the message I’m trying to send with my music really connects and resonates with people.
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals in both the acting and music realms and how do you see your career evolving in the coming years?
Some of my aspirations and goals for this coming year are to drop an album and tour all around the world, spreading love and positivity!
What is one habit from 2023 that you’re flipping the switch off on this year?
The one bad habit I’m flipping the switch off on this year is not listening to the haters and not listening to the doubters. I am on a mission and self-belief is all I need. That is my secret recipe for success.
What is one quote you’ve heard in life that you’d want to ECHO out to fans?
Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
