Chloe Moriondo Opens for mxmtoon in Boston

You could say that Chloe Moriondo is a bit of an enigma. Even with a debut album titled Blood Bunny and a love song called “Bodybag,” they are one of the most wholesome humans. For two nights, Boston got to experience her paradox.

On June 10, in her platform sneakers and holding her sticker mosaiced guitar, Chloe shyly approached the microphone. With a wave, a smile, and a wish for a “Happy Pride,” Chloe began creating the welcoming environment that extended into the main act, mxmtoon’s set.

Chloe’s positive energy was infectious with her giggles between songs and footpops that Mia Thermopolis would envy.

Chloe’s acoustic setlist ranged from track’s including “Take Your Time” to an ode to her 11 year old dog “Sammy.” “I hope that you’ll think of your beloved pets during it,” she said.

Many fans in the audience recognized the seventh song off her set, “I Want To Be With You.” The enthusiastic song was featured on Netflix’s Heartstopper

While the youths in the crowd jammed out to “Girl on TV,” Chloe interjected a cover of The Cranberries’ “Linger,” which she promised, “gets a bunch of the parents really lit.”

She ended her set with “Manta Rays,” the first song she ever wrote on guitar. The audience greeted the early track with a sea of cell phone lights, which got Chloe choked up. “I never tear up on stage, but that got me. Thank you, Boston,” Chloe told the crowd before shuffling back off stage and ending her feel good set.
