Still Woozy left the crowd gathered at Portland State Theater in a haze of bliss on Monday June 13. Opening with the popular track “Window,” Still Woozy came bounding out onto the stage following his bass player and drummer to get the show on the road, and he did just that.
The high energy set was accented by Still Woozy’s expressive dancing that was beyond contagious, sending the crowd into a frenzied routine of bouncing up, down and all around to the music. The set only slowed down later on for a quieter, more easy going “Kenny,” but even with a slower song it was clear the band was still bursting with excitement and energy.
Still Woozy informed the crowd part-way through that the band wanted to make the show special and proceeded to break out huge brightly colored beach balls to chuck into the scrambling crowd. Beach balls bobbing off concertgoers’ heads, feet dancing at dizzying speeds and a bounty of amazing music, everyone, including the band, seemed satisfied as the set continued on.
The light scheme was dazzling and showcased every color in the rainbow, at times simultaneously, giving the stage an otherworldly glow. Speckled with plants and pulsing with multicolored lights, the stage took on a lush appearance that matched the warmth and comfort of the music showcased.
After an exhilarating seemingly last song the band once again hit the stage to grace the crowd with smash hit “Goodie Bag” to close out the spectacular night. Amped up and not yet ready for the show to end, the crowd danced in sync while the band turned the stage into their stomping grounds one last time.
The crowd was left buzzing with excitement over the events of the past hour and a half; Still Woozy definitely made their mark on Portland Maine that night.
