Selena Gomez has dropped the deluxe edition of her new Rare album, featuring three previously unreleased tracks.
“Boyfriend,” “She” and “Souvenir” all appear on the beefed-up version of the album.
“Many of you know how excited I have been to release a song called ‘Boyfriend,'” the singer, 27, previously said in a letter to her fans about the three bonus tracks. “It’s a lighthearted song about falling down and getting back up time and time again in love, but also knowing that you don’t need anyone other than yourself to be happy. We wrote it long before our current crisis, but in the context of today, I want to be clear that a boyfriend is nowhere near the top of my list of priorities. Just like the rest of the world, I’m praying for safety, unity and recovery during this pandemic.”
“Souvenir” is a song where Gomez gets nostalgic about a thrilling fling on this mystical sounding bop, which brims with vivd imagery of hotel hooks up at Sunset Tower in Los Angeles and a certain blue eyed hottie.
The song “She” is a reflective number that finds Gomez reminiscing about being a young starlet who’s coming of age in Hollywood. Similar to “Look At Her Now,” she sings about herself in third person making it clear that she is not that girl anymore.
