After last year’s “Single Soon,” Selena Gomez has clocked back in with her new single “Love On.”
The coquettish track, co-written with notables including Grammy winner Julia Michaels, opens like old cinéma. “Qu’est-ce que je vais te nommer? Je vais te nommer. L’amour … L’amour tendre,” a french narrator coos, which translates to, “What shall I name you? I’m gonna name you the love … the tender love.”
The track is peppered with flirtatious musings that are “inspired by the months Selena spent in Paris last year,” according to a press release. The actress enjoyed last summer in the City of Love while filming Emilia Perez with fellow co-star and Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldaña.
“Thank you Paris for being a home to me for two months!” Gomez captioned an instagram post. “I loved every moment. Working on this film has completely changed my life. I can’t wait to share more soon! Love you all.”
The Parisian inspiration is also apparent in the opulent, seaside setting of the visual directed by French auteur, Greg Ohrel. Audiences find the “Hands to Myself” singer waiting patiently on a spiral staircase, while things heat up for others in the queue. Upstairs, Selena dines on croissants and dances En Pointe to the “fun and flirty” track promising in the lyrics that the reward for being patient will be “thrilling.”
Fans excited or the upcoming Wizards of Waverly place reboot, will need to find this patience she speaks about, while waiting for production to complete. Earlier this year, David Deluise and David Henrie captioned a photo of the Russo family, sans Max, with, “The Russos ❤️ coming back.”
Gomez will also be returning for the fourth season of the recently renewed Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building.
As reported by TMZ, her busy production schedule will also include her portrayal of revered singer Linda Ronstadt, in the upcoming biopic from “Silver Linings Playbook” director David O. Russell.
