Normani is on the verge of a massive breakout 2019, with EW declaring the Fifth Harmony singer is “ready to fully step out on her own.” Sam Smith is already at the top of his game with multiple Grammys, a Bond theme and seven U.K. No. 1s. Them on the same song together is something we never knew we needed. They just delivered something fiery and sexy with “Dancing With A Stranger.”
The collaboration, an R&B influenced pop number, happened because of a chance encounter at the studio in Los Angeles. The British singer was writing with Stargate and Jimmy Napes. As the story goes on, Normani was in the studio next door and the rest is all in the recording, which you can listen to below.
“Look what you made me do/ I’m with somebody new/ oh baby baby I’m dancing with a stranger,” Sam and Normani sing.
Smith speaks on the track, “it bottles everything I was feeling whilst juggling my personal life and touring. It is also such a beautiful moment for me as I’m a huge, huge fan of Normani and everything she is. I’m so excited to watch her light shine.”
Normani launched her solo career last year with the massive 2018 hit “Love Lies” with Khalid. “I never thought in a trillion years that I would be able to state that I have a record with this extremely gifted being.”
