REVIEW:  ‘CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE EP’ By Summer Walker

It’s Summertime!

One of this era’s most distinguished and influential artists, Summer Walker has dropped a new EP, Clear 2 Soft Life. The project features eight new songs driven by Summer’s self-aware wit and sass.

Clear 2 Soft Life is more than an acquired taste, it is a must-have on all of your playlists. It is a sophisticated listening experience, as Summer will caress you with her sultry vocals.

With a light funk, this EP opens with “Audio Hug.” This track is a love letter to Summer from J. Cole, whose inspiring rap would add grit to any Spike Lee joint.

As her 5th overall release, Clear 2 Soft Life is unquestionably brilliant, with Summer’s artistic expression on full display. Summer’s genius shines through in a collab with powerhouse Childish Gambino on the New Type track. This song is the ideal blend of smooth and sleek.

The last track is a rapid-fire spoken word, “Agayu’s Revelation, ” which wraps up this EP in a sexy little bow. Summer Walker’s Clear 2 EP is a vivid canvas of words that serves a greater purpose by pushing the creative envelope with its audacious storytelling. Each track has its merits and is worth a listen and download. It is a definite celebration of a powerful sister!

Summer recently performed at Mary J Blige’s Strength of a Woman Festival in Atlanta, alongside R&B superstars Lauryn Hill, Muni Long, and Lucky Daye. Summer was also a part of the Las Vegas star-studded lineup, Lovers and Friends, and gave a near-flawless performance at the Pharrell-led Something in the Water. These appearances launched Summer and her music to the front row of an ever-increasing fan base, where she now wears the crown as one of the music industry’s most in-demand live acts.

Summer, an Atlanta native, recently announced a “One Night Only” concert on June 1st, 2023 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA. A live orchestra will accompany her while she performs her legion of hit songs and fan favorites.
