What are you doing at age 16? Playing video games, eating pizza, enjoying the life of not having to do life at all. Ruel, a 16 year old musician is doing the complete opposite. At 16, Ruel already has an EP, and multiple singles and over one million followers on Instagram.
The Australian born musician had two sold out shows at The Fonda Theater the other night, that’s right, one afternoon/evening, two sold out shows and impressed is an understatement. Ruel took the stage for his early show at 5PM and came out in a rain coat, ironically since it’s LA, and started singing his song Dazed & Confused, which immediately got the girls in the crowd screaming. It’s weird though, at 16, you’d expect more teen bop songs but no, with Ruel, his music is extremely mature for someone at his age. He penned his first song at age 12, it was his father who inspired Ruel to become a musician.
Ruel just released his new album Free Time in September and so far fans are loving what it sounds live. From “Don’t Cry” to “Real Thing” and “Face to Face,” all the songs are heartfelt, for a 16 year old to write and perform these songs is incredible.
Ruel commanded the stage in his short ten song set, due to the fact he had two shows that evening.
Ruel’s LA show was his last show on tour in America but if you’re in Europe, Ruel’s first show is on November 14th in Vulkan Oslo and you can get your tickets here.
