Maisie Peters Become Youngest Soundtrack Writer with Release of ‘TRYING: SEASON 2’

Stories never stop pouring out of Maisie Peters and her guitar. While hard at work on her debut album, ‘MP1,’ Peters has crafted the soundtrack for ‘TRYING: SEASON 2 (APPLE TV+ ORIGINAL SERIES SOUNDTRACK.’

Working alongside producer Joe Rubel (Ed Sheeran, L Devine), Peters has written a tracklist that she refers to as “9 tiny fragments of my heart.” Among the soul stirring songs are standouts like “Lunar Year” and “Milhouse,” as well collaborations with BRITs Rising Star winner, Griff, Ivor Novello nominated folk rockers, Bear’s Den, and singer-songwriter James Bay.

“Being asked to make a whole soundtrack was a huge challenge as I’d never done anything like that before, but it was super interesting to me, so, I said ‘yes.’ Having spoken with Jim [O’Hanlon] (‘Trying’ producer)  and reading all the scripts, I started piecing it together with Joe [Rubel] and we wrote the bulk of it in two months last winter over FaceTime. Building the universe was so fun, and it was really special getting to collaborate with James, Griff, and Bear’s Den, as I’ve been big fans of them most of my life,” Maisie Peters shared.

At age 20, the release of this soundtrack makes Peters one of the youngest musicians in history to write and curate a soundtrack.

The soundtrack release follows her acclaimed song “John Hughes Movie,”  the lead single from her debut album being released later this year.
