Franklin Jonas Joins Hobo Johnson for Back-to-Back Shows in Boston

Franklin Jonas has emerged as a standout artist in the alt-indie scene. His nostalgic vibes and thoughtful lyricism recently caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer Diplo, who signed Franklin to his label, Pizzaslime Records.

In June, Franklin released his debut project Sewer Rat. Despite its off-putting name, the 5-track project is transportive and sonically stunning.

This summer, Franklin is taking his EP on the road supporting Hobo Johnson. On July 28, he performed his first of two shows at Brighton Music Hall in Boston.

From the moment Franklin stepped on stage in full rat costume, it was undeniable that he was a star. Songs on his energetic set included “Cocaine,” “New Girl” and “Cherub. “

“Let’s have some fun! Franklin playfully goaded the crowd, as he worked the stage like a well-established pro, stopping to share the spotlight with his “incredibly talented” band members, Mamie Davis Smith and Craig, giving them a chance to showcase their talents and original music. “They deserve to have their songs heard more than I do,” he told the crowd.

Franklin met Mamie in college and shared that “she made me want to make music and write poetry.”

Credit was also given to Craig’s laptop and Boston icons, “Give it up for the Patriots! Give it up for the Red Sox! Give it up for Ben Affleck! Bennifer’s back!” Franklin cheered.

Franklin’s Boston performance proved that he’s never been a “Bonus Jonas.” He is, as one fan put it, “The Main Jonas.”

Sewer Rat is now streaming! Grab tickets to Hobo Johnson Loves The West Coast Tour here.
