Following her debut 2020 EP ‘Things I Never Said,’ as well as the EP’s highly streamed single “Give Me A Reason,” BENNETT is continuing to ride high with her new song “Buzzed.”

The track blends pop, soul, and witty lyrics like “Tears in Benzes, buzz like lightyears” to brew up the perfect party anthem.

That party vibe is brought to life in the official music video directed by Art Camp. In the colorful and energetic visual, BENNETT joins classmates on a senior superlative riddled trip to a parking lot party.

We chatted with the Connecticut songstress about the single, the video, and what fans can look forward to next!

What inspired your new single “Buzzed”?
At the time I was feeling depressed, but I was tired of making sad music so we (the orphanage, Sebastian Kole and myself) decided to switch it up and go for an upbeat anthem. I love this song because the song sounds happy but the lyrics still reflect the depression I was in.

What was it like writing “Buzzed”?

I wrote Buzzed with Sebastian Kole and it was produced by the orphanage. The session was literally a party, we were drinking Henny and making good-ass music. Everyone’s ideas were flowing and we finished the song in like 2 hours.

Where did the concept for the music video come from, and what was it like filming with Art Camp?

I sent Griffin the song without any type of creative direction and he sent back the sickest treatment, I had no notes. It was soooo hot the day we filmed I just remember everyone was sweating, but Art Camp is amazing we wrapped the video in like 12 hours.

If you could set fans up in the perfect environment to listen to “Buzzed,” what do you imagine it looking like?

Listen to “Buzzed” after drinking a Twisted Tea on the way to the bar with your friends. Also, listen to it at the bar … and when you’re hungover in the morning. Unless you’re under 21 then listen to it while doing your homework xoxo

How do you hope people feel after listening to your music?

I hope people can see themselves in me and don’t feel alone. I try to be honest with everything I write, which can be a lil scary.

You recently posted fan tattoos inspired by you. What is it like to see that kind of dedication?

I still haven’t even processed that, it’s the craziest feeling. I can’t even explain it.

3 years ago you released the first song you ever wrote and recorded, “Never Yours.” How have you and your music evolved since then?

I’ve learned so much about the creative process and what works for me. I’m surrounded by so many talented people willing to help and teach me things I didn’t even know existed. Patience and hard work is key.

What can fans look forward to next?

I’m dropping a new song & video! Also, I just finished up my new project.

You just played The Summer Smash Festival in Chicago along with some major artists like A$AP Rocky and The Kid Laroi. What was it like sharing the stage with those artists?

I had a good ass time on and off the stage. I had so much fun performing and seeing people singing along was unreal. Shoutout to my manager Berto, he’s literally the busiest man in the world but still made sure I had everything I needed.

What is one quote that you have heard or that you go by that you want to ECHO out to the world?

“My name’s BENNETT and I ain’t in it” lol but for real, stop worrying about what other people think and do what you wanna do. People are gonna be mad no matter what.
