Charlie Puth just released his second single this year “That’s Hilarious” on April 8. The single comes after his most successful release to date, “Light Switch,” which has amassed 211 million streams globally since its January drop.

In the new track Puth expresses the heartbreak he felt after going through a nasty breakup and the major life changes that ensued. He shared with his TikTok followers that this piece was particularly hard to write because it takes him back to a challenging time of his life.

The line, “you didn’t love when you had me, but now you need me so badly,” highlights the betrayal felt by the split and then subsequent bitterness tacked on with “That’s Hilarious.” The cleansing track gives listeners a peek into his healing process and wrestle with a tumultuous time of his life.

Soft keys accompany Puth’s vocals and are rocked by an intense drum track that breaks through the chorus. The four time GRAMMY nominated singer’s vocal range is on display in this track and adds to the raw emotion of the song.

Puth is expected to release his third studio album later this year, titled CHARLIE. You can keep up with Puth via social media.
