Like his 2020 single “I Got You,” pop-newcomer HARIZ’s latest single “Remind Me” is ready to climb the charts.
The single’s heartfelt and vulnerable verses co-written by Stefan Lit & Josh Logan (Will.i.am / Black Eyed Peas, Andy Grammer, Brett Young) and hopeful hook are the perfect concoction of understanding and pop sensibility.
As the lead track off his upcoming debut EP, “Remind Me” also sets a promising tone for the 5-track project.
We chatted with HARIZ about the new single, his fall 2021 EP, and more!
What inspired your new single “Remind Me”?
“Remind Me” came about after I started recently going out on dates again. I was just thinking to myself how every date that I’ve gone on recently has been really smooth and chill, and I kept thinking to myself ‘damn, this is the way that it should be.’ So I wrote about it!
What was the writing process like?
So “Remind Me” was completely written and produced over zoom! Definitely a different vibe from writing in person, but I think Stefan [Lit], Josh [Logan] and I clicked pretty quick. Plus those guys are insanely talented so I wasn’t surprised we walked away with a banger!
How did you get connected with Stefan and Josh?
I met them through my management, but we still haven’t had a chance to meet in person yet! Hopefully that’ll change really soon! But again they’re just extremely talented and easy going guys. Just the type of people that you just kinda feel like you’ve known them you’re whole life even though its only been like 20 min hahaha!
You’re a classically trained musician. Does your classical training influence your music and writing?
Definitely! I think mostly subconsciously though. Having a classical background helps me with the production and arrangement of my songs. Just the technical stuff you see in older pieces really help sometimes!
If you could set fans up in the perfect environment to listen to “Remind Me,” what do you imagine it looking like?
Great question! In a perfect world, I’d take two people who are insanely falling for each other, make them have one of the best days of their lives together, like do everything and anything to make them laugh and smile, and in the background, the song is just playing. Might be super cheesy, but come on, you know you’d fall for it too.
How do you hope people feel when they listen to your music?
That they’re not alone. I want people to know there’s always someone beside them, through both the bad and the good. “Remind Me” is one of the good times, and I wanna share that good feeling with everyone, and cherish the moment of falling for someone.
What can fans look forward to from your upcoming debut EP this fall?
So much! The music is as honest and introspective as it can be. I really wanted to take a look at some experiences I had, see what I learned from them, then write out my heart. Each single’s artwork for the EP has something different, and a special meaning to each song. But I’ll tell more later!
What can fans look forward to next?
Got some awesome videos dropping, and shows coming up! Can’t wait to get back out playing live shows, they’re going to be more insane than ever!
What is one quote that you have heard or that you go by that you want to ECHO out to the world?
Live today, because yesterday has passed, and tomorrow isn’t promised.
