Over the past decade, Tyler Shaw has made a name for himself in Canadian pop music among fellow hitmakers Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, and Shawn Mendes. Now the singer-songwriter is quickly carving out his spot in the international music scene with his self-titled, third studio album.
Although a seasoned artist, this album is still an introduction to a new audience. “In some ways, I’m treating this like my debut album,” Shaw shares, “It’s because I feel it’s time to introduce myself to the rest of the world.”
A product of self-reflection and sonic exploration, the album is Shaw’s most authentic sound yet.
The 11 track project includes his most recent single “I See You” and dances through upbeat tracks like “Sex on the Beach” and ballads like “When You’re Home.”
Although the pandemic delayed the original release, it aided in Shaw discovering that original sound. One of the ways that Shaw found that sound was through virtual collaboration with artists all over the world. He co-wrote the songs with notable writers and producers including Sam Merrifield (Lewis Capaldi, JC Stewart), Jon Levine (Dua Lipa, Alessia Cara, Bebe Rexha, Drake), Martin Wave (NCT Dreams, Alok, Vince Staples), and Alex Beitzke (James Arthur).
Even with a range of genres and collaborators, Shaw’s album is cohesive and is one to put on repeat.
