Miley Cyrus is reviving the sound of her Bangerz era with her new single, “Doctor (Work It Out),” a collaboration with Pharrell.
On Cyrus’ 2013 album Bangerz, Pharrell worked with the singer as co-writer and producer on several notable tracks including “4×4” and “On My Own,” however one twangy funk track didn’t make the final cut.
For four years, “Doctor (Work It Out)” remained tucked away in a harddrive somewhere until two twitter accounts leaked the unreleased song. With the full track already available online, fans doubted that they’d ever see an official release.
Seven years later, much to fans’ surprise, a reworked version of “Doctor (Work It Out)” played models down the runway at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Autumn/Winter 2024 show in Paris.
“I could be your doctor, I could be your nurse, I think I see the problem, it’s only gonna get worse,” Miley voice played as models showing western inspired garb strutted through a chromed out wild west.
As soon as video of the show hit the internet, fans went wild recognizing the tune as the leaked audio. On February 27, both Cyrus and Pharrell confirmed the release with instagram posts.
A decade after Bangerz’s release, “Doctor (Work It Out)” finally made the cut, proving Cyrus “can’t stop” and “won’t stop,” even when thrown an obstacle like a leaked track.
Earlier this year, Cyrus took home her first Grammy for Record of the year for “Flowers,” which she also performed at the ceremony and won a Pop Solo Performance award for.
