As recent world news broke about the devastating Canadian fires and the smoke from them causing health concerns for more than 20 states in America from Missouri to Massachusetts. NYC was the area that was hit the hardest with an Air Quality readying of more than 400 in parts of it’s boroughs.
Shawn Mendes released a wake-up call song called WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DYING FOR ?, which was just finished a few hours before the release, showing how anxious and heartbroken the In My Blood singer is. “Smoke in the air” is the first lyric Mendes sings in the controversial song, “the city’s burning down” which is the lyric that immediately follows. Mendes showing his confused state of mind as to how to battle climate change and also his love/relationships. Whether it’s love or the smokey haze, this week for the East Coast has definitely been a wake-up call as this is something the East doesn’t experience on the norm. Did we need this song? Or was this more of a personal reason for Mendes to write a love song.
The singer also noted that he’s donating to the Canadian Red Cross to provide relief to those impacted by the more than 400 wildfires affecting nine provinces and two territories up north.
