Lana Del Rey and Quavo Unite for Country-Trap Duet “Tough”

After Lana Del Rey and Quavo (Migos) were spotted together on Grammy night, rumors started swirling about a possible collaboration between the singer and rapper. Four months later, the unlikely pair have unveiled “Tough.”

The country-trap duet harmoniously blends Lana’s ethereal and melancholic sound with Quavo’s more rugged and melodic rap.

“Tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boots/Like the blue-collar, red-dirt attitude/Like a .38 made out of brass/Tough like the stuff on your grandpa’s glass,” the pair sing.

Prior to Wednesday’s release, a lucky few caught the debut performance of “Tough” during Lana Del Rey’s headlining Fenway Park show in Boston.

The release is accompanied by a nostalgic visual directed by Migos collaborator Wyatt Spain Winfrey (“Why Not” and “Need It”) with Lana and Quavo.

Viewed through the intimacy of a handheld camcorder, the pair explore a scenic rural landscape. Their contrasting genres and origins are highlighted through the juxtaposition of mansions and log cabins, and hummers and chevy trucks.

This fall, Lana has revealed plans to venture into other genres with her upcoming country album, Lasso.
