On October 15, Joywave fans got cozy inside Boston’s intimate Paradise Rock Club venue for the band’s “Permanent Pleasure” tour in support of their new album.

Throughout the album’s promotional material, there has been a consistent character: a curled-up cat.

In an interview with Atwood Magazine, frontman Daniel Armbruster shared how the cat represents pleasure, “I find, you know, we’re thinking all the time. And it can be very exhausting…And I’m sitting and scrolling and getting more and more upset. And then I look at this guy right here [directs attention to his own cat] And I think, ‘how can I be like that?’

For one dedicated fan, Robbie, that pleasure comes from listening to Joywave’s music. This Boston show marked his 100th time hearing “Destruction” live. The raucous track debuted on the band’s 2015 studio album How Do You Feel Now?. To honor his commitment, Armbruster gifted him an unopened bottle of Essentia water.

“I’d like to point out that I’ve heard “Destruction” a lot more than a 100 times. Give it up for me too because “Destruction” truly is the greatest song ever written,” Armbruster proclaimed.

Other songs on the setlist included “Obsession” and “It’s A Trip!”

Although we cant guarantee an Essentia water, Joywave is sure to bring you joy and keep you entertained.
