Jake’s latest track, “Happy,” was released back in February of this year and continues to show off his vocal ability. With a dedicated following and more music on the way, the “First Date Kinda Nervous” singer is ready to take over streaming platforms immediately. In an exclusive interview with ECHO, Jake Clark opens up about his music, fans and more.
What can you tell us about your new song “Happy” and the inspiration behind it?
My inspiration behind “Happy” was a story of growing up and feeling your parents slowly drift apart, and wishing things could go back to being happy like they used to be.
If you could feature another artist on that particular track, who would it be and why?
I would choose Lauv. He is one of my favorite artists and I think he has some incredible duets out, and also uses music to write music very personal to him, and this song is very personal to me.
You have an incredibly dedicated fanbase and support system! What’s it like to have your own set of supporters?
It doesn’t feel real that I have supporters, and I am so blessed everyday to have them. All I hope is that I can spread positivity and happiness through my platform. My biggest goal is that people see that I’m a kind person over anything else, because everything else fades away one day.
For new fans and listeners, what would you like them to know about you?
For new fans I would just like them to thank them so much for listening. Even if they only listen to my song once or look at my social media once, the fact that they took the time to even do that means the world to me.
What’s one quote you’ve heard in life that you want to ECHO out to your fans?
“The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance” -Brian Tracy
If you could set up a fan in a setting for them to listen to your music, where would it be?
If I could set up a place for a fan to listen to my music, it would be at the beach. The beach means the world to me and when the weather is hot I try to go at least 4 times a week. I get so much joy being there, and I hope my music also brings joy.
What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during quarantine/the current global pandemic?
It definitely has been a change for me trying to keep busy during quarantine because I am such an over active person, but I have been making a TON of Tik Toks lolll, and tanning outside a lot…also doing a ton of homework :/
What are you most excited for after quarantine is over?
I am so excited to see my friends, go to the beach, and make more music. I really took all these things for granted, and as soon as they’re taken away it makes me realize how short life is, and how grateful I am to be able to do them.
You wrote “Happy” with Michael Blum and Sophie-Ann, other Fire Tower artists, what was it like getting to collaborate with them? What did you learn from writing with them?
It was so fun collaborating on this song with Michael Blum, and Sophie Ann. It was my first time being really vulnerable in a studio session, and they really heard what I was trying to say and helped me bring my vision to life. Writing this song will always be a day I’ll never forget, and I’m so glad they were there with me through it. It’s crazy how much music can bring people together 🙂
