Daya is back with her first single from her long awaited upcoming EP which is due later this year. The new single, “Love You When You’re Gone,” was accompanied by a fresh music video.

The track opens on an 80’s dreamscape reimagined in 2022 with electric drums and synth keyboard tracks. While fun and catchy the track feels like a pastiche of an era of music so easily recognized and quickly imitated.

Lyrically, the track captures what it feels like to only want someone after they have left you alone. “The way you fight, the way you drive reminds me, I can’t stand you,” sets the chilly tone of the chorus which is finished off with, “I just love you when you’re gone.”

The GRAMMY award-winning singer has yet to announce the release date for her upcoming EP, but has said it will be at some point later this year.
