Amber Mark Starts Her US Tour At Boston’s Sinclair

“How nice is it to be out of quarantine, huh?” The crowd roars in approval. About a quarter of the audience is in their technicolor dance outfits. Others look like they just came off of work. It is a Monday night after all.

Shaun Ross, an American model, actor, and now recording artist, began the night with his spacey RnB music. As the audience piled in, he started a chant to goad Amber Mark to come out on stage, “Amber! Amber! Amber!…”

And after a short intermission, and some dimming of the lights, Amber broke out onto the stage belting the lyrics to the song, “One,” over a chorus of crowd cheers and shaking hips.

Mark just released her debut album, Three Dimensions Deep, a glossy & sometimes funky reflection on her journey to the artist she’s become.

Boston is the first stop on her tour that celebrates her debut album; this is a big moment for her. She’s a bit nervous, and admits “there will be technical difficulties tonight.” But the crowd couldn’t be more supportive of her.

As Mark cycles through her songs, she starts to find her groove and dances more and more on the stage as the night progresses. She plays her hit singles, Lose My Cool and Mixer, early on in the night to energize the crowd.

“You like house music?” she asks, before having her keyboardist slam on a remix of Mixer which almost doubles the tempo of the song. The Sinclair seemed to respond incredibly positively to this development.

Having a live band behind Mark really adds something to her performance. The drummer and bassist add a lot of flourish in the gaps between her voice. You don’t hear that in the studio versions.

Also, her voice is no joke. It sounds studio quality. Unsurprising, as Mark has been singing since she was a child.

Even on a Monday, Mark’s incredible vocal runs and clever ear for rhythm will get you moving your hips. It’s absolutely worth going to. Tickets here.
