In nine different cities around the world, artists came together to use their voices to speak up and against the crisis’s happening in the world, from poverty, to climate change. Global Citizen has helped this be taken to a global scale and call on different countries to do their part.
United States has pledged $295 million to stave off famine and extreme hunger. Ireland has pledged 1.3 million COVID-19 vaccine doses primarily through COVAX. Germany pledged 50 million to Education Cannot Wait. These are just a few amazing outcomes from this annual concert, normally held in NYC but this year it was held in LA, NYC, London, Paris, Lagos, Mumbai, Sydney, Rio and Seaoul.
In LA, performers from Stevie Wonder to Demi Lovato came together to grace the stage at The Greek Theater to help raise awareness of these global problems.
5 Seconds of Summer kicked off the LA show with a four song set, including their bangers, “She Looks So Perfect,” Teeth” and “Youngblood.” The crowd instantly felt the energy from the four piece band and the fan girls screamed as loud as they could.
After, Demi Lovato came out and performed two emotional songs, where you could feel the emotions in each word they sang in their song “Anyone.” After, Adam Lambert came out and sang “Mad World” with them. After their duet, Adam Lambert came out to sing his funky single “Superpower.”
After, The Lumineers performed a set that made everyone feel at home and ease. With the last year that happened, this performance brought everyone together and gave it that homey feel to the venue.
After the openers, as some would say, the legendary Stevie Wonder came out and graced the stage with is presence. He brought on H.E.R. to play his legendary song “Superstition.” He came back out later to close the show with his song “This I Know,” along side Sheila E and OneRepublic.
OneRepublic also performed a short set including their famous songs such as “Apologize,” “Good Life,” “Stop and Stare,” “I Lived” and a new song from their recent album “Someday.”
The night was for sure a memorable night that brought everyone back together for an important cause, and that is demanding change for the world, for future generations to come.
