Coming from a musical family, Jack Conway at only age 24 is a mostly self taught musician who as grown up into an upcoming next pop heartthrob. After releasing two singles in 2019, the Los Angeles based singer isn’t let the quarantine stop him from making more music, including music videos. Conway just released his new music video for “Easy” recently and ECHO had the chance to chat with Conway about his new music and video.
How are you? Let’s talk your new single “Easy,” that was released back in March. Talk about the creative process and the inspiration behind the song.
The inspiration behind the song came from a combination of my relationships & reflecting on how complicated things tend to get when really it’s can be kept ‘easy’.
You also just released the new music video for the single, talk about creating the video while in quarantine. What was that experience like for you?
Creating the video seemed daunting, because no one wanted to work, because of the whole 6 foot rule. (Which 100% makes sense). Fortunately, my brother came into town and instead of letting COVID shut down any creativity we had, we decided to use it to our benefit and bring more life to what “Easy” means. Life is challenging for sure, both physically and mentally distancing, right now. It’s a perfect time for many people to stop, reflect and have an appreciation for what we do have, rather than what we don’t.
What have you missed most while being in quarantine?
I’ve missed being able to go record/write in the studio. FaceTime writing sessions are great, but there’s something vibrant about being in the studio creating with other artists. Side bar – I’ve missed going to the gym and going out to eat. Like I just want Salt & Straw ice cream haha.
How have you been staying creative and busy during this pandemic?
I’ve been focusing on staying active every single day, whether it be running 5 miles, doing 100 pushups or even just walking. On the creative front, I’ve been learning more on the production side of things + doing more virtual writing sessions. I’ve had some tough moments, but as long as I keep going & creating, then I don’t even realize the quarantine.
What are you most excited to do once this is all over?
I am excited to be able to spend time with friends, go grab coffee at local shops & then still stay at home and avoiding LA traffic.
If you could set up a fan in a setting for them to listen to your music, what setting would that be?
Well, Red Rocks Amphitheater is on my bucket list to be able to play, so that’d be a great setting. Still, if I could every one of give my fans a personalized show, I feel like that’d be the most valuable.
What’s one quote you’ve heard in life that you want to ECHO out to the world?
Keep Moving Forward – Walt Disney, You don’t need to have all the answers, you just have to be curious enough to find them.
