REVIEW: Still Woozy Brings His Psychedelic New Album to Life on “Loveseat Tour”

Still Woozy, the indie rock solo project of Sven Gamsky, played at Boston’s mid-sized Roadrunner venue on his “Loveseat Tour,” performing songs from his recent album of the same name. Although “Loveseat’ is only his second full-length album, Gamsky has been releasing music as Still Woozy since 2017. He was launched to fame from the success of his first singles “Cooks” and “Goodie Bag”, the latter of which has reached almost 500 million Spotify streams.

In Boston, his self-described “psychedelic bedroom pop” music was fittingly paired with an eclectic stage setup of large plush flowers adorned with smiling faces. He was also joined on stage later in the set by a giant inflatable creature that brought a humorous and occasionally unsettling atmosphere to the performance. Despite the inactivity implied by his stage name, Gamsky barely stood still for a moment of his set. He danced and leaped and grooved to his music, which kept the audience’s energy high for the whole show. For fans of his music, and new listeners alike, Still Woozy put on an engaging performance that left everyone in the audience sweaty and delighted.

Opening was New York-based indie pop collective Michelle, who captivated the crowd with their silky harmonies and immaculate dance moves. The six-piece group recently put out the first two singles of their upcoming third album “Songs About You Specifically.” Michelle has been on the road with Still Woozy for the past few weeks, but will be embarking on a solo tour in the fall, promoting the release of their record. Their vocals and choreography make them an unmissable act.
