New Artist Spotlight | Part 1

Here at ECHO, we love to find and share emerging artists. Today, we are launching our spotlight series where we will share the new artists we think you should add to your playlists. 

Nathan Zarowney 

After catching listeners’ attention with his last release, “You Don’t Play Fair” and his cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Mariners Apartment Complex,”  Canadian artist Nathan Zarowney is back with his alt-pop anthem, “sad boy.” The synthy dark pop track bridges modern indie and 80s pop to create what Zarowney describes as “a reroute of pop.”

Twin XL

Alt-pop trio Twin XL have released their new confessional single, “Slow Heart.” In the ironically upbeat track, lead vocalist Cameron Walker-Wright openly shares his regrets and mistakes in an effort to heal and find self-love. Their ‘The Cure’ inspired sound can also be heard on discography highlights like “Good” and “Lemonade,” as well as the soundtracks for FOX’s The Resident, Hulu’s Light As A Feather, MTV’s Ex On The Beach and more. 

Jessie Lee

Three years after the release of her solo EP, ‘First Love,’ Canadian based singer-songwriter Jessie Lee provides a chill escape with her new single “Body Sings. The groovy electro/indie bedroom pop track reflects on true love and connection and is infused with elements from Lee’s jazz and contemporary training. 

Max Leone

“The Craziest Thing I’ve Ever Done” is the latest lo-fi pop track from Portland Native, Max Leone. The moody, string-laden single vividly recalls the “craziest” things he’s done.The single is paired with a cinematic visual featuring Max “on the run.” “The Craziest Thing I’ve Ever Done” is a glimpse at the songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist’s debut EP ‘Malleable’ due out soon.

Distant Matter

Distant Matter is ‘keeping us vibin’” with his new single, “Four Leaf Clover.” This upbeat dance track is about being appreciative of the people that enter your life, even briefly. His debut EP will be released summer 2021. 

What If Elephants

Listeners can indulge in What If Elephants’s brand new single, “Guilty Pleasure” featuring Flara K. The track tells “the story of a couple who have been together for awhile, yet still have those giddy, over-the-top feelings for each other.

DAVVN

Boston-based duo, DAVVN have released their first genre bending  single of 2021, “Mixed Signals.” A collaboration with fellow Boston-based musician chillary,  “Mixed Signals” is an amalgam of pop, electronic, and indie rock that explores love in a digital age.  

AMSI

“Cry” is the anthemic new single from NYC pop artist and singer-songwriter, AMSI. Over a Bollywood-inspired pop melody, AMSI realizes the strength in emotion. “There were many instances where I was told I was too sensitive or too emotional, but now especially in this past year, I realized that crying doesn’t mean I am weak, it means that I am processing & growing,” AMSI shared. 

Nuela Charles

3x JUNO-Award nominated artist, Nuela Charles confidently suggests separation to mend a relationship in her new single, “Space.” The alternative, pop track showcases her diverse musical upbringing and soulful vocals over a pulsing beat.  

Meet Me @ The Altar

To celebrate Women’s History Month, Facebook partnered with rising pop-punk trio Meet Me @ The Altar to create a new anthem, “Hit Like A Girl.” Having initially met online, the trio took to Facebook to ask fans to post, comment and DM the band about what being a woman means to them. The crowdsourced content was collected and creatively woven into an empowering track for women.  Their 2000s pop-punk inspired sounds can also be heard on their major label debut,  “Garden. ”
