Following her 2020 debut project, ‘Minor’ and recent release, “Unlearn,” Gracie Abrams returns with her latest single, “Mess It Up.”
“Mess It Up” showcases the swirling anxiety, letdown, and resolve that come with a relationship that ended too soon. Working with producer and co-writer, Blake Slatkin, Abrams captured the same emotional intimacy that has already earned her admiration from notable artists including Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo.
The songwriter also stars in the video directed by Matty Peacock ( “Ice Cream” by BLACKPINK with Selena Gomez). The relationship is metaphorically represented by a cake. Abrams is determined to make the dessert, but every time she goes to deliver it, she drops it and “mess(es) it up.”
