ECHO had the chance to chat with RUDI about her music and much more!

How are you?

Great! I’m doing well. How are you?

Let’s talk your recent single “Stupid Boy,” what was the creative process behind that song like?

I actually started writing it during the show because I was talking to one of my friends about Matt and talking about how annoying our situation was and how he was making me mad. She was like okay, let’s write a song about it. So, we started it and finished it once the show was over and yeah the rest is history. The challenge about producing the song was that we didn’t have a normal studio vibe. I recorded the whole thing in my closet and I was slowly dying every hour that went by without AC in my tiny closet.

You’ve released a few songs during the pandemic time. What is the one that you’ve vibed with the most?

They’re all different vibes. If I wake up feeling sad and nostalgic I’ll listen to Smile. If I had a few drinks and I’m thinking about an ex I’ll listen to Stupid Boy. And Hate LA, I probably listen to that one the least. I love them all though.

What types of moods can we expect from your upcoming singles moving forward this year?

All of them, I feel like I am all of the moods all of the time, I will literally be crying one second and laughing the next, so yeah just all the moods. I mainly write when I’m sad, so I’m going to try and write more happy things lol…

You performed at lollapalooza in front of 20,000 people and now we’re uncertain when a concert of more than 10 people can happen. What have you been doing to keep that performance experience going?

Trying to post as much on Tik Tok and doing Instagram lives and singing for people here and there. It isn’t the same but it’s an outlet I can use to get out there and perform somehow.

Are there any hobbies you’ve picked up while in quarantine the last few months?

No not really. I am a creature of habit so it has given me more time to do what I love to do, like write more music and watch a shit ton of movies. But that’s about it. Oh, I’ve been FaceTiming a lot of guys, that’s a new hobby.

If you could set up a fan in certain setting for them to listen to your music, what setting would that be?

I would choose for them to be at a live show of mine because I think listening to music is one thing, but to see me perform and put on a show for them and put on original work I think would be way cooler.

What’s one quote you’ve heard in life that you want to ECHO out to the world?

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. My grandpa always told my mom that and my mom told us that growing up. I’ve been through things where I feel like I’m not going to get through it, but you just have to think about that. You gotta be tough and you will get through it and it’s a good thing to live by. I always tell my little sisters that when they’re having a bad day.
