Since releasing his breakout hit “Cold War” in 2018, Brooklyn-based artist Cautious Clay has continued to release music that moves and resonates. Through singles including “Roots” and “Wildfire,” Clay has shared his unique concoction of R&B, hip hop, jazz, and indie pop influences, as well as brilliant storytelling.

This blend can be found on his long-awaited debut album ‘Deadplan Love’ out now. The record is a cathartic exploration of how to “cope with the worst of what the world has to offer,” Clay explained. “So much of life and relationships are spent in gray areas—we mistreat the people we love and we’re friendly with the people we hate. This is an album about those complexities in friendship, investigating toxic behavior and self-worth.”

To bring this concept to fruition, the multi-hyphenate enlisted the help of notable collaborators and co-writer including Tobias Jesso Jr. (Adele, HAIM), Jim-E Stack (Caroline Polachek, Empress Of), Daniel Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo, FINNEAS), Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Kelly Clarkson), Ammar Malik (Maroon 5, Halsey) and Sir Nolan (Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez).

Fans can catch this 14 track album live at this summer’s Lollapalooza and on the Karma & Friends Tour of North America and Europe in 2022. Tickets are now available here!
