Brynn Cartelli released her new single “Gemini” on May 20, just in time for Gemini season. The singer’s career was catalyzed by her win on season 14 of The Voice, and this single follows her debut EP Based on a True Story, which was released in 2021.
“Gemini” plays into zodiac stereotypes, as Cartelli sings of falling for a Gemini and fearing his preconceived duplicitous nature. The guitar strumming and layered harmonies provide a textured track to supplement Cartelli’s eloquent lyrics as she sings, “I’ve had enough of giving all my love to a boy that’s got something to hide.”
In addition to the single, Cartelli released a self-directed music video featuring herself and four dancers. Long skirts in blue, pink, and white twirl in the wind as the women spin in a field nearing golden hour. With intricate choreography and a wide range of camera angles, Cartelli delivers a visually compelling addition to the single.
Cartelli is expected to release new music later this year. In the meantime, she is headlining Rockwood Music Hall in New York on June 11.
