The Zolas New Release “Wreck Beach/Totem Park” Brings Attention to the Importance of Indigenous Land

When The Zolas’s Zach Gray was a student at the University of British Columbia, he would spend sun soaked evenings at Wreck Beach and Totem Park.

While doing so, Gray did not realize that these party spots were a Musqueam Reserve and that they held deep meaning for the Indigeunous people of Canada.

Now fueled with that understanding, the latest single from the indie-pop band, “Wreck Beach/Totem Park,” brings attention to the importance of those locations and confronts and questions how history is taught.

“This song is for everyone whose homes are on Native land, and all the half-truths we grew up with,” Gray says.
