Jess Benko Tackles Self-Sabotage in “Worst Enemy”

Toronto based artist, Jess Benko often uses her music to cope with personal struggles. In her latest single, “Worst Enemy,” Benko honestly tackles self-sabotage and criticism.

Building around the first line of the chorus, “no one wants to cry with the radio on, shuffling my music and it’s all sad songs” Benko and collaborators, Nick Lopez and Izzy Perri capture our human tendency to self-sabotage and the frustration of that internal battle. The track also highlights Benko’s endeavor to further define her artistic and sonic identity.

Benko wants to remind listeners that “You’re not alone in fighting with yourself, those feelings are normal. Your experiences can be used as learning lessons; move along each day without beating yourself up too much.”
