On April 10, California based singer songwriter India Shawn released her debut Epic Records singles, “CALI LOVE” and “Not Too Deep” (featuring 6LACK). The tracks are filled with smooth vocals and alluring R&B melodies.
“CALI LOVE” is a melodic search for an authentic relationship. Shawn sings, “You could ride a beach wave/ beach babe/live a movie cliché/ big break/you can even meditate/vibrate/where do you find true love in LA?”
The single’s accompanying music video is saturated with colorful visuals and includes Shawn dawning a sparking pre-roll crown as she sings through a cloud of smoke.
Similarly, “Not Too Deep” also explores love. The lyrics describe new love and the accompanying fear one may have of doing anything to ruin it.
In a recent press release Shawn explained, “When I wrote ‘Not Too Deep,’ my head and heart were in the admiration, appreciation, and simplicity of newfound love. It reminds of one of my favorite Osho quotes, ‘If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. If you pick it up, it dies, and it ceases to be what you love. So, if you love a flower, let it be’.”
