EXCLUSIVE: Satya Opens Up About New Single “In Trouble”

Moroccan Canadian artist, Satya has battled demons, including abandonment, bullying, and addiction. Despite these hardships, music has always remained her north star. Now, Satya is creating her own music that she hopes inspires courage and hope in others listening.

Her latest single, “In Trouble” and its companion music video are about falling so deeply in genuine love that you feel like you’re losing control.

We chatted with Satya about the single, how life experiences have inspired her music, and more!

How did you first get interested in music?

I first started to get interested in music as a young girl. Music always made me feel good. It was also very healing to hear sounds and voices – I say healing today, but as a young girl, I didn’t know that, but music made me feel great.

Who did you listen to growing up and do they have an influence on your music today?

My parents were listening to a lot of Motown, Whitney, Diana Ross and a lot more of those amazing artists in this genre. I remember loving the sounds and voices. It had a magical vibe to it.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?

My life experiences have influenced my music a lot. I love to get inspired by stories of my own life as well as someone else’s.

What was the inspiration for your new single, “In Trouble?”

The inspiration behind my single “In Trouble’” is about finding true love. When I say true love I mean your true love. Love is what matters the most in my life.

How did you get connected with DJ and producer Domeno and what was it like collaborating?

I always loved what Domeno was doing, at some point we remixed my first single. After that, we worked together on “In Trouble,” it was amazing. He is so great! And there are many more cool things coming up from both of us.

What was the writing process like?

The writing process for me is really about putting down my inspirations on paper, then I collaborate with an amazing co-writer that really puts my words and inspirations in a song.

Where did the concept for the video come from?

The concept came from my video team and I, they heard the song “In Trouble,” listened to my story and things I wanted to put out there and we came up with this concept.

If you could set up fans in the perfect environment to listen to “In Trouble,” what do you imagine it looking like?

That’s a hard question because we all have our perfect little environment we feel good in. I would answer whatever feels good to them 🙂

How do you hope people feel after listening to your music?

Empowered, and not afraid to fall in love, I know its so hard but good things come out of opening up and letting someone in.

What can fans look forward to next?

More music that’s for sure!!

What is one quote that you have heard or that you go by that you want to ECHO out to the world?
